Indian Psyllium – Plantago ovata is a plant with an inconspicuous blossom and short leaves covered in soft fuzz. It is grown predominantly in India, but also in Iraq, Pakistan and Australia.
It is mainly the seed coat of this plant that is used for curative purposes, because it contains the highest amount of water-soluble Psyllium fibre.
The largest Psyllium producer is India, from where the Dr. Popov company imports it at the highest possible quality available. Each batch of Psyllium is thoroughly tested in the Czech Republic in a reference laboratory as to its quality and microbiology. Dr. Popov is also the first successful Czech exporter of the Original Indian Psyllium of Dr. Popov to the European Union.
Original Indian Psyllium of Dr. Popov – one hundred percent natural, non-addictive water soluble fibre, attained by extraction from the seed coat of Indian Psyllium plant. It does not contain colourings, preservatives or chemical additives. In Indian ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine) it has been used for more than two thousand years. Just a few days of using the Original Indian Psyllium of Dr. Popov can induce the correct density of stools with the added bonus of not being addictive. In the digestive tract it increases its volume several fold. The created gel absorbs excessive fluid and by merely expanding – with a mechanic force like a piston – removes harmful products from the digestive tract. Poisonous and cancerous substances are absorbed in intestines by the gel thus reducing their contact with mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines. Psyllium expansion causes a false feeling of being full up and diminishes the desire to eat, which is important in weight reduction. Psyllium of Dr. Popov does not irritate mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines, does not contain gluten and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
